Boston Scientific was initially formed as a holding company to acquire Medi-Tech, a leading interventional medicine company. Throughout its history, the company has provided patients with a number of innovative medical options, including major cardiology products, pulse generators, and pain management systems.

The company operates through four major business groups. The Cardiology, Rhythm, and Vascular Group's major practice areas include interventional cardiology cardiac rhythm management and the endovascular unit.
