Water Safety Instructor-Summer Spot program for 6th-8th grades (1 day/week; 3 hours/week; Hours assigned will be between 7:30am-5:30pm) JobID: 23008 Position Type: Athletics/Activities/ Water Safety Instructor Date Posted: 5/12/2021 Location: Maple Grove Middle School Closing Date: Until Filled    Hours: 3 hours/day; 1 day/week; Hours assigned will be between 7:30am-5:30pm) Description: To provide safety supervision of pool Job Summary: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental job duties: Conduct a pool area safety check and report areas where attention is needed. Lifeguard and maintain a safe area, including supervision of adapted aquatic students; must wear a bathing suit and have a whistle on person at all times of pool duty. Handle discipline problems within the pool and assist in handling discipline problems in locker room areas. Communicate with Spot staff as needed regarding any feedback, concerns or safety areas needed. Prepare pool equipment and supplies Prepare a pool equipment inventory at the beginning and end of summer. Note condition of pool equipment weekly and refer equipment requests to the site Community Education Program Manager and/or custodial personnel. Store all pool equipment properly at the end of each shift. Qualifications: EDUCATION: High school graduate. Current Water Safety Instructor certificate. Current Advanced Lifesaving certificate. Current CPR certificate. Verifiable first aid training. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working with elementary and secondary students in pool activities.
