Davey Tree has an immediate opening for Plant Health Care Technicians/Groundsman in our SE Seattle (Redmond),  WA Office.

SUMMARY:

Plant Health Care Technicians (PHC Techs) performs all functions of the Integrated Pest Management Program, including administration, scheduling, inspections, treatments, equipment maintenance, record keeping, and customer relations. Professionalism and customer service is a key element of the position, as well as routing, product mixing and application. Tree and shrub ID, Pathology, and knowledge of turf or tree physiology are valuable but not required.  Experience in related fields of work (pest control, exterminator) or outdoor work experience (lawn care, yard care, mowing, gardener, weed control, maintenance) is desirable.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

*Provides fertilization, weed, pest and fungi controls on client properties using tankers, spray pumps and injection tools.  *Monitor, diagnose and treat insect, disease, and environmental conditions *Evaluate and recommended treatment options *Demonstrates the proper pesticide application skills *Learn/understand insect & disease life cycles, and plant biology *Perform accurate and timely record-keeping

During the off-season or slowed periods, work as a member of a tree crew under the supervision of the Crew Leader/Foreman, while progressively learning new skills

*Maintain clean and orderly drop zone while running ropes and supplying tools to Trimmer(s) and  Foreman *Support Foreman and Trimmer(s) completing tree pruning, removal, cabling & bracing

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Two or Four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Arboriculture, Horticulture or related discipline is a plus, but not required *Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority *Ability to identify local tree species and knowledge of growth rates (Northern CA) *Valid driver's license required *Class B CDL-Air a plus *ISA Certified Arborist is a plus *Certified applicators license a plus where applicable *Related past experience is a plus *Excellent communication skills *Specific task training provided
