Open Pit Electrician
Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross' portfolio and was acquired in January 2016. JOB DESCRIPTION Under the supervision of the Process Maintenance Superintendent and Area Mobile Maintenance Supervisors, the incumbent undertakes the maintenance of the electric shovels and electric haul trucks. Incumbent will also maintain substations, transformers, and other electrical duties of the shop area. Should be up on NEC Code and able to do Plant and Site Electrical work as required. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate will maintain and repair electrical systems on P&H 2800 DC shovels, 830AC and 830DC Haul Trucks. Experience with high voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection relays. High voltage cable terminations, splices and miscellaneous electrical repairs. Building and Grounds electrical maintenance including wash bay, fuel islands, Sub Station Maintenance and Power distribution lines. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS *Electrical background preferred; either a college or technical degree or Journeyman *Minimum of 5 years' experience in open pit mining environment preferred *Industrial electrical experience preferred *Experience with programmable logic controls and motor control circuits *Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems on P&H shovels, 830AC and 830DC electric haul trucks preferred *Ability to utilize basic hand tools required *Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management required *Ability to perform the essential functions of the position required *MSHA electrical cards preferred *High-voltage cable repairs preferred *Must be able to follow NEC code HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS *Adheres to all safety and environmental considerations *Have a strong commitment to safe working practices *Wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times while in the production environment *Is alert and observes, corrects, and reports unsafe conditions *Follows operating procedures and complies with all regulatory requirements KINROSS LEADERSHIP PRACTICES *Creates an environment where nothing is more important than every employee returning home safe and healthy every day *Creates an environment in which people are unfailingly treated with respect *Fosters the talent and potential of all employees by enabling them to grow, develop, and make a difference in the organization *Demonstrates that leadership in the areas of environmental performance and community and stakeholder relations is fundamental to the way we plan and manage our business *Holds self and others accountable for the decisions, commitments, and behaviors required to deliver outstanding results *Uses judgment to manage business complexities, prioritize and balance conflicting demands to make timely decisions that best advance Kinross strategy *Builds and brings teams and people together to achieve organizational goals.
