Director - Process Improvement

Provide Process Improvement department leadership to facilitate the implementation of pertinent process improvement (PI) methods and project management (PM) at an organizational, department, process and individual level. Manage all aspects of department's PI and PM projects in support of organizational strategic goals. Provide expertise and facilitate development of standardized approaches to creating process improvement plans, defining appropriate aims and measures, analyzing and interpreting data, managing change and facilitating improvement teams. Supports the development and implementation of new ways to improve the delivery of health care. Leads individual projects on an as needed basis. Identifies trends and process variations as part of developing a continuous improvement monitoring system. across the organization. Standardizes process improvement methodologies for completing PI projects. Actively monitors project risks to identify potential problems and proactively identifies solutions to support project deliverables. Serves as supervisor and coach to Process Improvement staff. Leads team and conducts meetings of assigned staff. Frequent, extensive written and oral communication with Carilion management, project team members, other Carilion vendors. Works in a normal office environment and is responsible for travel to Carilion facilities in southwest Virginia, meetings and vendor sites, as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business, management engineering or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in healthcare process improvement and/or project management and two (2) years in a leadership position. License/Certification: Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (CLSSBB), Project Management Institute (PMI) project management certification, Professional Engineer (PE) license, or other professional certification in a related field highly desirable. Must be licensed to legally operate a motor vehicle in Virginia or otherwise have the ability to move independently among Carilion sites. Other Minimum Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (preferred) or similar software. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated leadership, team building and problem solving skills. Excellent working knowledge of process improvement and project management tools. Ability to travel to necessary off-site work location required.
