Nursing Unit Director/Manager - Inpatient Physical Rehab - CRCH - Roanoke, VA

JOB SUMMARY

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***'s Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program at located at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital (CRCH) is a 33-bed unit within the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Hospital system. We are primarily located in southwestern, VA and currently seeking an experienced nursing leader responsible for approximately 50 nursing and support FTEs.   This nurse leader will be a staple in our interdisciplinary leadership team.

The patients we serve have experienced a significant medical event that required hospitalization and has resulted in loss of function limiting their ability to return to home. Typical diagnoses include stroke, traumatic brain injury, amputation, spinal cord injury and multi- trauma. Our purpose is to provide the necessary therapies (physical, occupational, and speech), medical management, patient and family education, equipment and other types of support to enable a safe, successful discharge to home. The usual length of stay is 2-3 weeks.
This position will support Carilion's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. The Nursing Unit Director/Manager has 24 hour accountability and responsibility for a direct care nursing unit/area providing a vital link between the strategic direction of the organization and the point of care. The Unit Director/ Manager is responsible for creating safe, healthy environments that support the work of the health care team and contribute to patient and employee engagement.
•    Provides day to day leadership for successful implementation of goals and objectives for a department. Responsibilities include daily throughput of unit, patient experience rounding, employee rounding for engagement, quality monitoring of unit, planning of budget and managing expenses.
•    Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure that goals and objectives are met. (Quality, Patient Experience, Employee Engagement,  Staff Retention and Throughput)
•    Works with other department leaders to carry out new health care services and performance improvement initiatives.  Positively and appropriately represents **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** at public and professional meetings. 
•    May provide direct patient care or assist employees in overall care of patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:Graduate of school of professional nursing. BSN Required at CMC due to Magnet designation. For outlying community hospitals, BSN is preferred or an ADN in conjunction with a related Masters degree.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, de-escalation training must be successfully completed within four months  of hire and then maintained going forward. Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline preferred.

OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting and work competency skills.  Promotes a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. In Psychiatry and Behavioral Health must possess ability to appropriately handle/restrain patients who may be disruptive and/or physically violent.
