Innovation Engineering Intern

The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Innovation Engineering Internship will be 20 hours per week through the duration of October 2021 to December 2021. The intern will support one or more experienced **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** staff members in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering and invention development. Intern may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the Virginia Tech and Carilion community. Assist in the development and implementation of clear, complete and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes for engineering or manufacturing purposes, according to specified dimensions using computer aided design software. Primary Responsibilities include the following: *Perform engineering change processes as necessary to support existing products. *CAD modeling: create 3-D models from 2-D drawings. *3D printing: Generate and develop 3D prints. *Documenting user requirements and potential product specifications *Working with VT mentors and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***ian stakeholders to develop prototypes of solutions in line with excellent engineering and safety principles *Develop testing protocols and execute testing, under structured mentorship *Conduct data analysis and perform basic product (hardware/software) evaluation and redesign, engaging stakeholders and mentors throughout the process *Develop data-driven reports (PowerPoint/written/multimedia) to be shared with the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Innovation team *Focus on priority projects, as determined by the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Innovation Team *Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Preferably Engineering student, 4th year undergraduate, or graduate student. EXPERIENCE: Biomedical engineering, or equivalent experience OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Meets basic requirements for visiting student at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.
