Senior Director - Quality and Performance Improvement

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Quality and Performance Improvement assures that the Quality and PI corporate functions are carried out on a local level in such a manner as to appropriately support Community Hospitals and system standardization. Serves as a member of the hospital's leadership team, participating in the establishment of hospital- and organization-wide goals and objectives, collaborates with CQO and VP of CAPS regarding strategic and quality plans for achieving those goals and objectives.  Leads &/or participates on organization-wide interdisciplinary teams and committees.  .  Mentors and coaches Leaders to ensure a just and servant culture.  Embraces change and influences positive change/process improvements.

Is a good steward of fiscal plan.  Participates in , fiscal planning, monitoring, and implementation of cost-containment measures as indicated and appropriate. *

Collaborates with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** services (home health, private duty and hospice) in planning for and providing those services as they relate to hospital and the service area.  Assures good communication and coordination of those services with other services in the hospital service area. *

Champions and leads hospital-based Performance Improvement, Quality and Safety initiatives. employ with , board members, administrators, employees and medical staff members.  Ensures that data collection and reporting supports hospital and organization-wide quality monitoring efforts.  Supports evidence base practice, Magnet and NDNQI processes. *

Works collaboratively with organization-wide and hospital services to ensure hospital's continuous compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and that hospital achieves and maintains accreditation/certification under TJC, CARF, ASCP and other applicable accrediting agency standards. *

Serves as a member of the hospital's leadership team, attending board meetings and/or medical staff meetings, and serving as a role model for demonstration of Carilion's values and behaviors.

Twenty-four hour accountability for human resources management, operational management, patient care management and financial management.  Communicates regularly with management and administrative personnel within Carilion organization and with physicians.  Planning and execution is driven by **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Quality and Patient Safety strategic plan and tactics, with accountability for achievement of facility goals & objectives.  Performs work duties primarily in a normal office environment, however is visible to leaders and frontline employees. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Requires Master's degree.  Certification in Quality/Safety strongly recommended.

Experience: Minimum 7 years management/leadership experience in hospital, operational or other health services setting, demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related services.

Licensure/ Certification: None required.  Clinical experience a plus.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must satisfactorily complete orientation processes for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** and for Director, Quality and Patient Safety position.  Must display positive leadership skills, interpersonal & oral communication skills, and written communication skills.  Must work well with all members of the Community hospital teams, including employees, managers, administrators and physicians.  Must understand dynamics of, and be able to work effectively within a "matrix" management environment.  Must possess analytic business skills, integrity as a team player; be courteous; have ability to resolve complaints/problems; and display a customer-focused philosophy of service.  Must demonstrate skills in operational and human resources management.
