Process Improvement Consultant

Leads significant organizational change initiatives to improve clinical quality, efficiency, effectiveness, timeliness, patient satisfaction and financial performance. Plan and leads the most complex improvement, structural reorganization, and implementation processes. Provides advice and training on the development, administration and technical aspects of the organization's improvement efforts at all levels. Assistsclinical and non-clinical personnel in assessing work and identifying areas/processes for improvement and executing improvement plans. Process Improvement is an enterprise support department. Position is based in Roanoke, but project work may involve any Carilion facility. Work involves the application of advanced knowledge and excellent communication skills in order to implement solutions to complex problems across multiple disciplines and sites. Judgment and ingenuity are required for successful outcomes. Errors may have significant impact on fiscal results, legal compliance, patient care, safety and/or confidentiality. Work involves all levels of management and employees as well as outside vendors. Explore how joining a regional leader can enhance your ability to learn, grow, and succeed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred. Strong preference for industrial/systems engineering, health science/management, business, organizational change, or similar education with a strong component around process analysis and improvement. Experience: Experience should include leading quality/process improvement projects, preferably in a complex organizational environment. Two years experience preferred. Experience needs to reflect applied knowledge of improvement skills such as health care industrial engineering, systems theory, project management, systems dynamics, process design, human factors, ergonomics, and social dimensions for change. Experience in healthcare setting preferred. Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Certification in Six Sigma, change management, lean production, project management (PMP), quality function deployment, related field, or progressive plan to acquire approved certification in two years. Must be licensed to legally operate a motor vehicle in Virginia or otherwise have the ability to move independently among Carilion sites. Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate process change, flexible solutions to problems and organizational learning. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and initiative. Ability to lead and produce positive outcomes in a changing, unstructured work environment. Proven ability to understand and apply various analytical tools. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software and able to learn other software as needed. Must be able to work with minimal amount of supervision. Ability to travel to necessary off-site work location required.
