RN FIRST ASSIST - IRVINE OPERATING ROOM
Irvine, CA

The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) provides quality-nursing care in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act incorporates Perioperative care modalities and utilizes the nursing process, based on evidence-based outcomes to meet patient care needs. The population served is the pediatric, adult and geriatric patient requiring surgical or procedural intervention. Provides assistance to a surgeon during a surgical procedure, functions under the direct supervision of the surgeon with: positioning, prepping, draping, instrumentation, knot tying, retraction, hemostats, closure of layers.

Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Demonstrates leadership skills by directing personnel and establishing collegial relationships with others. Demonstrates competence and sensitivity in caring for multicultural patient/families by adapting the Plan of Care based on cultural needs identified. Follows evidence based clinical standards when formulating the patient Plan of Care/problem list. Demonstrates ability to work in a multicultural team environment and is respectful of the cultural diversity of the workforce and patients we serve. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Hospital's, Patient Care Services, Perioperative Service's and Unit's mission. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

*Active, Current California RN License *BLS Certification *Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of age of population served, and additional skills and knowledge of equipment may be required for hire into some patient care departments *If BSN has not been obtained upon hire then the Clinical Nurse I must begin the BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain their BSN within two years of starting the program

JOB PREFERENCES:

*BSN
*Proficient in perioperative nursing practice both as a scrub nurse and circulation nurse with a minimum of three (3) years of diversified O.R. experience *Completion of an accredited RNFA course and the required internship *Approved as Allied Health Associate at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Hospital *Current CNOR certification
