MANAGER MICROBIO LAB ED - MICROBIOLOGY

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Hospital Newport Beach and Irvine laboratory leadership team in setting and achieving combined goals for **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Hospital laboratories. Provides support to Laboratory Director, in both administrative and technical operations. In collaboration with Laboratory Director, evaluates and prioritizes the needs of and resources for Newport Beach and Irvine laboratories. Leads by example. Drives innovation. Exhibits a can-do attitude. Performs other duties as assigned.

Microbiology

Responsible for overall management of Microbiology Section; includes Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Virology and Molecular Lab. Maintains compliance of DNV, CAP, OSHA and other regulatory agency standards. Responsible to maintain section operations consistent with current standards of medical care.

Point of Care

Responsible for overall management of Point of Care Testing (POCT); including supervision of POCT staff, organization of work, coordination of resources, expense control, quality assurance, process improvement, and problem solving in the delivery of services and related programs within the POCT program.

Laboratory Safety

Responsible for overall management of safety program in accordance with DNV, CAP, OSHA and other regulatory agency standards. Oversight of department's safety program in collaboration with department safety representatives. Acts as department safety officer with regulatory bodies and events.

Laboratory Education

In the role of education manager, provides opportunities for staff education and development with approval from the administrative director. With support from laboratory coordinators and administrative assistants, implements activities that promote staff education and development. The education manager is the liaison to the CLS training program affiliated with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

*Baccalaureate Degree in a clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related science. *Five years of relevant clinical experience with at least three years in the area of specialty.

LICENSE

REQUIRED:

*Must meet and maintain current State of California licensure requirements for Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Limited Clinical Laboratory Scientist in area of responsibility.
