SCHEDULING COORDINATOR - LH 24411 OBGYN
Costa Mesa, CA The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator schedules procedures and/or surgeries per the provider's orders with outside facilities after obtaining the necessary authorizations and communicating with multiple parties with the needed information. Essential Functions • Books, coordinates and reschedules patient surgery, pre-op and post-op appointments. Relays necessary messages to doctors and staff. Schedules surgery for multiple providers • Schedules office and hospital based medical procedures, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate scheduling code • Schedules patients in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner. Verifies necessary logistical information in the medical record. • Schedules surgeries and admissions as requested. • Communicates with patient details for procedures including consents, pre-op instruction forms, and any specific directions for the surgery and/or procedure • Obtains insurance benefit information and prior authorization as needed. Ensures Payor is contracted and in-network with doctor's office and facility. • Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone • Maintains and updates current information on physicians' schedules. • Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed • Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides information. • Confirms patient's insurance provider and either obtains prior authorization or communicates need for prior authorization to appropriate parties as needed. • Verify patient medical benefits • Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing • Uses electronic medical records to communicate to insurance company, CPT codes needed for particular procedures and surgeries • Maintain good rapport with ancillary facilities and staff. • Communicate professionally with OR, assisting physicians, patients, and insurance companies about the authorization and its outcome. • Complete referrals accurately and appropriately • Works closely with Physician and Staff, Insurance Cos. Hospital and Outpatient Surgical Center • Clinical Care: Ensure that quality patient care is delivered to all patients on a 24-hour basis, and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and the philosophy and goals of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. • Position may require local travel between various locations. • Perform other duties as assigned Education, Training and Experience Required: High School Diploma Minumum 1 to 3 years' healthcare scheduling experience, or medical office experience.
