SCHEDULING SECRETARY - IRVINE RECOVERY ROOM/PACU
Irvine, CA

Primarily responsible for communication of information pertaining to the department. Facilitates the communication between the unit, physicians, physician's office, other units, and team. Answers phones, takes messages as necessary, and accurately relays information to proper people/ unit in a timely manner. Assists in the coordination and execution of the OR schedule in collaboration with the Charge Nurse and Medical Director. Accurately collects information for the scheduling of add-on and emergent cases, and enters pertinent information into SIS system. Notifies Charge Nurse, appropriate Physicians, Vendors, PACU, Holding, and Case Cart of any updates or changes in OR schedule. Facilitates dispatch of Operating Room Assistants for pathology specimens, blood pick-up, lab specimens, room turnover, and other requested destinations.

Prints paperwork required for cases as necessary, and as requested. Collects and organizes paperwork from completed cases and prepares them for collection by perioperative business office. Maintains OR Staff Variance Report. Maintains supply of forms/paperwork in hallways of OR as necessary. Assists with maintaining of data and process improvement for the unit.

Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. maintains a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies and procedures. Supports the Mission of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** Hospital and Perioperative Services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Business, clerical, and/ or hospital experience, computer knowledge.

Preferred: 1 year of hospital experience, knowledge of medical terminology.

Skills or Other Qualifications:

Required: Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive customer service and professional attitude at all times. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to work as a team member and to adapt.

Preferred: Knowledge of proper body mechanics, infection control guidelines, safety measures. Knowledge of population served. Any additional skills.
