DC WM/Operations Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY: The WM/Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting the DSW Distribution and Fulfillment Centers logistics operations by working to maximize productivity, trouble shoot issues and improve overall operating capabilities for the DSW Retail DC.  Ideal candidates have distribution experience plus a strong knowledge of Manhattan & Associates WM software. 

REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Lead the support structure of DSW Operations group with the warehouse management systems (WMS) and is the senior liaison between operations, DSW IT and Engineering *Troubleshoot network printer issues *Configure software to meet operations requirements *Ability to utilize collected data and create operational reports for productivity tracking and/or merge WMS data with labor management system collected data to create reports *Troubleshoot network connection issues with various peripheral equipment (computers, cameras, printers, etc.) *Able to diagnose WM system and/or software issues and relay problems to IT resources for resolution *Work to ensure connectivity methods are reliable and utilize current technology. *Provide technical WM support assistance to DSW Operations recruiting help from DSW Engineering and DSW IT as necessary. *Follow up with operations after issue is resolved to ensure satisfaction. *Maintain log of all issues & projects on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure issues are resolved and projects are completed in a timely manner. *Keep up to date on all modifications that are performed for system updates. *Exhibit strong computer skills with the ability to understand the technical aspects of the software and its functions. *Train and manage training on software, hardware, and operational support standards to ensure the highest level of technical support. *Create standard operation procedures for various operations in the facility identifying proper WM interface flows and troubleshooting guidelines to be used in training and for ongoing reference. *Assist maintenance and operations in troubleshooting equipment issues (carton tracking in WCS, photo eye alignment and adjustments, in-line scanners, in-line scales, Print and Apply) *Participate in IT projects including test script writing, schedule development, data preparation, test execution and issue resolution *Work with Operations, IT and Engineering on process changes and identify how the system configurations can be adjusted to accommodate changes as well as when process changes require WM software modifications by software vendor

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

*Expert level Excel abilities *Expert level SQL abilities *Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business manuals and instructions *Ability to write reports and business correspondence *Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and the general public *Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions *Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with abstract and concrete variable *Ability to train and lead other associates during projects

 

EXPERIENCE:

*5 years experience with all areas listed above (WM and Warehouse Operations) *Proven experience in system/software support *3 years experience in Manhattan & Associates WM system functionality *3 years experience in databases required *Expert level with all Microsoft Tools (Excel, Word, Project, Access) *Expert level in diagnosing and identifying system/software issues *Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate to all project members and stakeholders; must be a team player who works well with technical and non-technical resources. *Must take initiative, be a decisive decision-maker and show confidence in decisions made. *Must be able to take strategic direction from executive management and participate in strategic planning activities throughout the lifetime of the project. *Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance. *Collaboration, accountability, humility and passion *Ability to challenge conventional thinking while maintaining trust and credibility *Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into practical deliverables

EDUCATION:

*B.S. degree in Information Systems, or Industrial Engineering or Logistics or equivalent work experience
