Summer 2022 Internship Program - IT Security Analyst

IT manages all of our technology, from our point-of-sale systems in stores to the desktop computer at home office and everything in between. They keep us connected in all areas of the business!

Our IT Security & Compliance team has a Security Analyst internship opportunity available for Summer 2022. The Security Analyst is passionate about cybersecurity and pays meticulous attention to detail.  Primarily focused on day-to-day security operations, the Security Analyst is the key liaison between IT Security and the ServiceDesk and Business Teams.  The role is also responsible for reacting to tickets opened by our Managed Security Services Provider, termination and decom activities, email security operations, and security incident classification & escalation.

At the end of the program, the interns will have a better understanding of the IT function within Designer Brands.

*Internships will begin Summer 2022 (Mid to late May) and last for 12 weeks. *All interns are full-time, paid positions based in Columbus, OH (hybrid - onsite & remote) *All interns must be able to pay for their own housing and transportation while in Columbus *Only the candidates who meet the internship requirements will be contacted for interviews *All interns will be required to complete a project at the end of the internship program *This opportunity is only open to SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR, and SENIOR candidates at this time, local candidates preferred *Relocation and housing expenses will not be covered by Designer Brands

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Leverage the combined outputs of network and system log data, protocol analyzers, intrusion detection systems, and information gathered from external sources to quickly identify anomalies within Designer Brands networks and escalate incidents, as necessary.  *Analyze network flows and protocol usage *Conduct forensic memory and disk triage-imaging activities *Leverage runbooks to complete security tasks and maintain optimized security tool effectiveness *Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

*Highly skilled communicator *Foundational understanding of log-aggregation / SEIM platforms (e.g. ELK, Splunk, Rapid7 etc.) *Foundational understanding of the cyber incident lifecycle and kill-chain *Foundational understanding of IDS/IPS, Firewall, and client/server concepts of operation *Ability to identify, classify and appropriately escalate security events, alerts, and incidents

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

*Current Student in the field of Information Technology
*One or more of the following industry certifications is preferred but not required: S , GSEC
