International Logistics Specialist
Mount Holly, NJ

Through daily communication with respective forwarders, truckers, and Customs Brokers, this position will record and make available to DBI all information on product shipping from all origins to the U.S. based distribution centers. The International Logistics Specialist will be tasked with identifying and solving potential problems that may arise with the delivery of any inbound shipment, circumventing any delays in the current flow of product into the warehouse. As instructed by leadership, the coordinator will cross-train and perform additional functions within the department and operation, which the associate is trained and skilled to perform, in support of Company objectives and success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Track, expedite and ensure that all Non-Negotiable bills of lading are obtained from shipper, endorsed and surrendered to the freight forwarders well in advance of cargo arrival in compliance with banking and customs clearance timing.

• Coordinate and send required shipping documents to prevent delays in recovery of cargo and delivery to the U.S. warehouses. Confirm shipments have received clearance to make cargo available for delivery.

• Responsible for accurate preparation of In-Transit Report including adjusting timeline and expected dates as needed.

• Coordinate and communicate with warehouse operations delivery of inbound freight

• Coordinate U.S. Customs (CBP) releases with customs broker.

• Communicate with customer warehouse operations to schedule all freights to be received.

• Communicate customer requirements and/or delays to our corporate office

• Track and expedite sample shipment customs clearance and deliveries.

• Freight audit sample and inbound freight invoices for rate/billing accuracy.

• Maintain current vendor freight rate historical data.

• Request and address vendor monthly statements for aging.

• Update Inbound Logistics Guide as necessary

• Assist Manager with C-TPAT security projects and reporting.

• Reporting:

      • In-Transit Report

      •Daily, Weekly and Month End reporting for Logistics

      •Ad Hoc reporting

• Communicates problems/concerns to the appropriate DC Lead, Supervisor, and/or Area Manager

• Responsible for the proper handling and safe use of all Company owned property, tools, and equipment

• Promotes and maintains a clean and safe work environment

• Conducts duties in compliance with OSHA safety standards and location specific policies, paying special attention to pedestrian/equipment traffic

• Cross-train to perform one or more functions within assigned department and operation to assist within other areas in support of department, facility, and Company success.

• Other duties as instructed by leadership which the associate is trained and skilled to perform

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems efficiently.

• Ability to interpret and analysis data to provide detailed reporting to management team as necessary.

• Must have the ability and eagerness to work as part of a team.

• Ability to perform duties independently, and as part of a team, with minimal supervision or guidance

• Excellent analytical and time management skills required.

• Strong multi-tasking, organizational, detail, follow-up, and interpersonal skills

• Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives

• Knowledge of proper business communication etiquette, and effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Intermediate computer skills are required.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook

• Intermediate to high proficiency with Microsoft Excel, especially spreadsheet composition

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

• 2-4 years of experience in Import/Transportation Logistics

• Working knowledge of Import Traffic

EDUCATION:

• High School diploma or equivalent require

• Bachelor's degree in related field, preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience with specific systems actively utilized within the department and facility strongly desired, including a Warehouse Management System(s)
