Sr. Infrastructure Modernization Engineer, Storage (Open to Remote)

The SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE MODERNIZATION ENGINEER is responsible for modernization and progression of traditional IT Infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for evaluation, engineering, implementing, and monitoring of our Storage and Compute infrastructure. Storage modernization will cover ongoing support of the existing SAN fabric, storage subsystems, file share solutions and data protection while planning transition to hybrid and modern storage solutions and technologies.  This role will also be responsible for shared management of existing datacenter compute platforms (e.g., VMware), managing our container technology, on-premises and in the cloud and continuing to progress enterprise computing. This engineer will be responsible for moving the infrastructure forward through automation and evaluation of new technologies. We are open to remote based candidates in the United States for this opportunity.

REPORTS TO: Manager, Enterprise Systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Responsible for all storage solutions; SAN (Infinidat, Nimble, Rubrik), File Share (Nasuni), Virtual Tape Library (Cybernetics, Data Domain), Data Protection (NetBackup, Quest), Fabric (Brocade) including capacity management and planning *Responsible for management of the container infrastructure (Kubernetes) and continuing adoption, enablement, and updates *Assists in support of virtualization platform (VMware), x86 infrastructure (UCS), and data center management *Develop and maintain automation using Azure Pipelines. *Perform Proof of Concept tests and benchmarks for storage and computing technologies to meet the company's requirements for growth, performance, and reliability *Engage system administrators for client data storage management techniques *Work in a highly collaborative team environment and being active in cross-training efforts. *Represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally *Assists the Manager of UNIX & SAN Systems in long and short-term planning for hardware, software, maintenance contracts and budgeting

REQUIRED SKILLS:

*Mastery of SAN Concepts and Methodologies *Understanding of Container and Microservice Concepts and Methodologies *Mastery of Enterprise Level DR and Backup and Recovery Processes *Experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows systems for file system layout *Understanding of networking concepts *Experience supporting VMware ESX

QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

*4-6 years' experience with Data Storage Systems *1-3 years' experience with Linux Operation Systems *4-6 years' experience with SAN Fabrics/Switches

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*4-6 years' experience with Infinidat, Nimble, Brocade *1-3 years' experience with Nasuni, Cybernetics, VMware, UCS

EDUCATION:

*Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent
