Diamond Foods is now owned by Blue Road Capital, a private equity firm based in New York, which is focused on holdings in the agricultural space. With the support of Blue Road Capital, Diamond of California is in the midst of a major transformation to create a modern growth brand participating the growing consumer desire to incorporate more plant-based products in their diets, for reasons including health and wellness, taste, texture and variety.
Diamond of California is a leader in the culinary (recipe) nut category, with the largest branded share in America’s grocery stores. Culinary nuts are generally raw, unflavored nuts sold in both the baking and produce departments. Diamond is on a renewed mission to lead this category for the next generation of consumers who use nuts in cooking, baking, snacking and even in beverages. We are still in the emerging stages of a complete brand renovation, which encompasses product, packaging, pricing, placement, marketing, and new product development.
Diamond has led the category’s marketing in the areas of social media and food influencer partnerships, partnering with a boutique San Francisco-based public relations agency. The brand has the largest social presence in the category with nearly 800,000 followers on Facebook, approximately 5x greater than the next brand. In addition, Diamond was an early culinary nut innovator in food influencer partnerships, working with the blogger and chef communities to create a culinary influencer program. We partner with bloggers and chefs for content, recipes, and authentic endorsements of Diamond nuts.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
It is the responsibility of the Production Supervisor to coordinate raw materials, machinery, and staffing/crewing to provide the highest return of investment to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***, while achieving production department goals as outlined by the Director of Manufacturing and VP of Operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise the day-to-day workflow of production employees.
Minimize wasted resources (i.e. wasted materials, product, employee time, machine under-utilization)
Assist in the forecasting and planning of workload for various areas of the production department.
Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing provide equitable disciplinary program as specified according to the T & C.
Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct set-up and adjustments of machines.
Maintain production schedules and estimate worker hour-requirements for completion of job assignment, including adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
Interpret safety policies/practices to employees, including enforcing safety regulations.
Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job/work orders.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. May include suggesting changes in work conditions and the use of equipment to increase efficiency of available resources.
Analyze and resolve work problems, and/or assist employees in solving work problems.
Initiate and/or suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
Maintain time and production records.
Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Assist in the training of various key-operating areas of the production facility.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of GMP’s.
Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, other supervisors, and management.
Knowledge of SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures). Ability to develop procedures that are simple and easy to follow. Ability to write reports, SOPs and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of SPC’s (Statistical Process Control).
Ability to read and understand blueprints and diagrams.
Ability to supervise multiple production employees.
Ability to work independently without immediate direction or supervision.
Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
Ability to multi task and can handle pressures and deadlines.
Confident and conscientious individual with the desire to make a difference in the organization.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
The minimum qualification for this position is a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or other related field. A demonstrated experience in food manufacturing; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience is a large plus.
Demonstrated experience in supervising a team of production employees.
