Reed Smith Law Firm Bankruptcy Paralegal Tier III - Hybrid Schedule

Reed Smith is searching for an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal Tier III to join our team. The successful candidate will be a paralegal with at least 10 years of legal experience in the Bankruptcy area and possess excellent attention to detail.

This is a Hybrid Schedule position, with the successful candidate required to work in the office at minimum 3 days per week. The details of your weekly schedule will be discussed further with your direct supervisor.

The Bankruptcy Paralegal Tier III will have the following responsibilities:

• Prior working experience in the bankruptcy group of a law firm representing debtors and creditors in complex chapter 11 and chapter 7 cases;
• Experience with e-filing with the Federal Courts generally, and more particularly with both the U.S. Bankruptcy and the U.S. District Courts;
• Familiar with the CM/ECF and Pacer filing system;
• Experience with Bankruptcy Court procedures and practices, including the preparation of hearing agendas and related binders for hearings;
• Experience in the drafting of notices, monthly and quarterly fee applications and proofs of claims;
• Ability to assist attorneys in preparation and drafting of correspondence, pleadings, bankruptcy motions, certificates of service and discovery requests;
• Experience with obtaining, reviewing and indexing legal records and documents for litigation matters;
• Experience with organizing and maintaining discovery files and document productions (hardcopy and electronic formats);
• Experience with noticing depositions, organizing, maintaining and preparing deposition materials, exhibits and summaries;
• Experience with preparing case materials for experts;
• Experience with spreadsheets (MS Excel), database and litigation software packages, i.e., LiveNote; and/or Relativity;
• Experience with trial preparation and trial assistance;
• Familiarity with Chapter 11 reorganization process and basic documents such as, SoFAs, fee applications, disclosure statements and plans of reorganization;
• Knowledge of the Rules of Federal Bankruptcy Procedure and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure relating to service of motion/objections and pleadings;
• Experience with management of bankruptcy litigation, including adversary proceedings and appeals (familiarity with the Local Bankruptcy Rules for the Delaware and Southern District of New York Bankruptcy Courts);
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Ability to work and learn independently and meet deadlines;
• Ability to interact well with attorneys, staff and clients;
• Excellent writing and proofreading skills;
• Experience with UCC searches and filings, a plus; and
• Experience in appellate matters and cite checking and blue booking skills, a plus.

Qualifications for the Bankruptcy Paralegal Tier III include:

• Undergraduate degree and paralegal certificate required; will consider candidate with comparable relevant experience in lieu of a paralegal certificate.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Ability to organize and prioritize issues and workload.
• The ability to work on projects independently or with little supervision.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities.
• Exercising independent judgment and initiative.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment.
• Able to deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment and multiple priorities/tasks.
• Make judgment decisions and adapt to changing work situations.

• Communicate with various personalities at all levels.
