# Assistant Attorney General/Unit Leader

The Office of the Missouri Attorney General is looking for an experienced attorney for a Unit Leader position in the Labor Division in Jefferson City. This position will be primarily responsible for workers' compensation defense for claims filed by state employees and Second Injury Fund defense for the State of Missouri. The successful candidate will also be involved in criminal proceedings in workers' compensation fraud and noncompliance cases.

## Job Requirements

The ideal applicant for this position should possess the following qualifications:

* Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
* Missouri Bar membership or eligible for admission to the Missouri Bar.
* Demonstrated knowledge of workers' compensation law, preferably with at least three years of experience in the field.
* Excellent communication, research, and writing skills.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
* Ability to travel regularly during daytime hours.

## Responsibilities

The Assistant Attorney General/Unit Leader will be responsible for representing the State of Missouri in the following areas:

* Interacting frequently with the state risk-management agency for workers' compensation.
* Conducting and defending expert witness and party depositions.
* Conducting hearings before different administrative law judges.
* Mediating and resolving claims by settlement.
* Prosecuting and defending appeals before the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission and the state's appellate courts.
