Legal Practice Assistant
Birmingham, AL Law Firm Seeking Experienced Legal Practice Assistant in Birmingham, Alabama Job Title: Legal Practice Assistant Experience: 10 years Location: Birmingham, Alabama Salary: $46,460 per year Department: Litigation Support Overview: - Law firm in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking an experienced Legal Practice Assistant to join their expanding practice. - This position offers the opportunity to work with multiple attorneys and provide support to the Higher Education Practice Group. - The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in legal terminology and processes. Responsibilities: - Prepare and process legal documents, correspondence, and memoranda according to practice group requirements. - Review and route incoming mail and fax communications, and prepare outgoing mail and faxes. - Maintain and update attorneys' calendars, including meetings, appointments, and client-related activities. - Manage paper and electronic files in compliance with internal policies. - Prepare time entries and expense reimbursements for assigned attorneys. - Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, coordinating travel arrangements, and communicating with clients and colleagues. - Assist with special projects as assigned, such as seminars and training sessions. Requirements: - 10 years of experience as a practice assistant or legal secretary. - Strong knowledge of legal terminology, documents, and processes. - Typing speed of at least 70 words per minute. - Proficiency in MS Office, document management, time entry, e-filing, and database software. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Strong proofreading and organizational abilities. - Ability to work independently and with a team. - Regular and punctual attendance. - Leadership qualities.
