Department: Consumer Protection Branch at the Department of Justice

Responsibilities:

- Perform complex legal research for trial attorneys and staff
- Conduct privilege and fact-finding document review in Relativity
- Assist in preparing legal documents and reviewing for relevance and privilege
- Prepare and organize documents for use in depositions, witness interviews, or at trial
- Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation
- Handle multiple assignments with varying deadlines and conflicting priorities
- Review and edit briefs and other case documents under tight deadlines
- Correct erroneous or incomplete citations, references, and quotations
- Work closely with attorneys in revising and finalizing briefs and other case documents
- Draft, revise, and finalize tables of authorities
- Advise on accuracy and relevancy of citations, quotations, and other references
- Conduct legal research to update authorities accordingly

Required Qualifications:

- Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization
- Law degree or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, or equivalent legal training/experience/education
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Sound knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures and resources
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Suite or other similar business tools
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience conducting first-level document review in Relativity
- Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented
- Effective communication skills with colleagues at all levels
- CaseMap experience preferred
