Senior Paralegal
New Orleans, LA The position of Senior Paralegal in Baton Rouge, LA is currently available with Amentum, a leading global engineering and infrastructure company. This is a full-time position that requires a paralegal certificate or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience, with trial experience being a plus. The role also requires at least one year of experience in automated litigation support and a sound working knowledge of the federal and state court system. The Senior Paralegal will work closely with Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs), federal law enforcement officers, client agencies, and support staff to prepare cases for litigation. They will be responsible for obtaining records, documents, and evidence from various sources, reviewing and analyzing case material, and preparing and processing legal documents. The Senior Paralegal will also be responsible for maintaining and organizing case material using software, such as databases, spreadsheets, and word processing applications. Key Responsibilities: • Work with AUSAs, federal law enforcement officers, client agencies, and support staff to prepare cases for litigation • Obtain records, documents, and evidence from various sources • Review and analyze case material to become familiar with the facts and circumstances of the case • Prepare and process legal documents • Maintain, manage, and organize case material using software • Work with litigation support to resolve any issues related to discovery • Assist AUSAs in producing discovery to opposing counsel • Organize and coordinate discovery distribution • Operate electronic systems and court presentation software during court proceedings • Provide assistance to AUSAs in trial preparation Required Qualifications: • Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience • Trial experience is a plus • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support • Sound working knowledge of the federal and state court system • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS and Westlaw • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources • Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under pressure • Must successfully pass a Minimum Background Investigation • Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization • US citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location Amentum is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides equal opportunity for employment without regard to race, religion, color, sex, gender, national origin, age, veteran status, ancestry, sexual orientation, marital status, family structure, medical condition, or any other protected category under federal, state, or local law.
