Perkins Coie is currently seeking applicants for our 2025 2L Summer Associate Program in Boise, ID. Our summer associate program offers a variety of work and training opportunities, as well as social events, to promote interaction among summer associates, attorneys, and business professionals. This program serves as our primary source for new associate hires, so we are looking for candidates who have demonstrated academic excellence, community leadership, and a dedication to excellence in the legal profession.

Job Description:
Our summer associates will work on challenging legal assignments, similar to those given to new associates, including legal research, analysis, and drafting. They will have the opportunity to attend depositions, mediations, deal closings, client meetings, trials, and other professional activities and events. Summer associates are also encouraged to work on pro bono projects and will have access to formal and informal training, as well as a mentor to guide their progress and development throughout the summer.

Responsibilities:
- Work on a variety of legal assignments in different practice areas.
- Seek out assignments from senior associates and partners.
- Attend depositions, mediations, client meetings, trials, and other professional events.
- Work on pro bono projects.
- Attend monthly CLE programs on specific practice area topics.
- Accompany attorneys to networking events and court hearings.
- Participate in attorney affinity group meetings and diversity events.
- Collaborate with the Green Committee to implement sustainability practices.

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school pursuing a Juris Doctor degree.
- Rising 2L law student in good academic standing.
- Demonstrated academic excellence.
- Leadership in and service to the community.
- Dedication to excellence in the legal profession.

Work Assignments:
Summer associates will have the freedom to select work assignments in different practice areas available at each office location. Assignments may include projects related to business litigation, corporate and securities, intellectual property, privacy and data security, product liability, real estate and land use, technology transaction and privacy, and trademark, copyright, internet and advertising.

Summer "Trackers":
Attorney "trackers" will coordinate work assignments and monitor the type, quality, and amount each summer associate receives. Supervising attorneys will provide informal feedback after each assignment and submit formal evaluations to the office hiring committee. Formal evaluations will become part of each summer associate's mid-summer and final evaluations.

Training and Development:
Summer associates will have access to both formal and informal training, including monthly CLE programs and the opportunity to accompany attorneys to networking events and court hearings. They will also be assigned a mentor to guide their progress and development throughout the summer. Summer associates can also work on pro bono matters and attend diversity events and dinners sponsored by the firm.

Benefits:
This position is not benefits-eligible, but paid holidays are available. The office also offers incentives for using public transportation and encourages participation in community events.
