Assistant General Counsel
Raleigh, NC

Reputed firm is looking for an experienced Assistant General Counsel to join their legal team in Raleigh, NC. This position will primarily serve as legal counsel for the K12 Programs administered by the Authority, specifically the Opportunity Scholarship Program and the Personal Education Student Accounts for Children with Disabilities Program. The Assistant General Counsel will advise the Authority on legal matters related to state and federal laws, administrative regulations, contracts, and proposed legislation. They will also work closely with the Deputy General Counsel and the General Counsel to provide professional and actionable legal advice for a variety of other subject areas, as needed.

Salary Information:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and license to practice law in North Carolina or ability to become licensed within one year from the date of appointment
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Excellent analytical, research, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
- Prior education-related legal experience preferred
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and case law
- Ability to juggle shifting priorities and projects
- Experience in utilizing computer-based legal resources

- Provide legal counsel for K12 Programs administered by the Authority
- Advise on compliance with state and federal laws and administrative regulations

- Eligible for hybrid work arrangement
- Must reside in North Carolina within a 2-hour commuting distance
- Plan, finance, and administer student financial assistance programs
- Serve students attending public and private two- and four-year colleges and universities in North Carolina
- Represent the agency in bankruptcy proceedings
