Senior Director, MAP
The candidate reports directly to the Vice President, Membership Application Program & Statutory Disqualification. Senior leaders responsible for the management and assessment of firm group membership applications and materiality consultations. Leads and implements the strategic direction of the MAP program for specific firm groupings. Ensures accurate and timely assessment of membership applications and materiality consultations, leverage regulatory intelligence and other information to assess membership readiness. Develops and implements strategic and tactile plans and initiatives for firm groupings in alignment with the organization and departmental goals. Responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships and collaborates and with Risk Monitoring, Examinations, Surveillance, and Investigations' counterparts regarding the assessment of high-risk MAP applications, novel and emerging issues, and other matters. Participates in the department's strategic planning process and recommends opportunities to enhance MAP and organization's processes, programs, and to guidance provided to firms seeking membership. Stays abreast and adapts to the changing regulatory and business environment of firm groups. Leverages regulatory information, such as risk assessments, disciplinary actions, and examination outcomes, and other regulatory information to inform the management and assessment of membership applications. Identifies and evaluates novel and emerging business models and products and makes recommendations regarding how to proceed with the evaluation of related new and continuing membership applications and materiality consultations, and escalates matters when appropriate. Engages with firms, Securities and Exchange Commission staff, the Office of General Counsel and other external and internal stakeholders regarding membership applications, interpretive matters and novel and emerging issues. Hires, directs, and develops teams with appropriate financial services and regulatory experience and whose skills are consistent with Membership Application Program needs. Oversees group processes and decisions to determine applicant satisfaction of standards for membership and for membership continuation. Oversees the activities of MAP managers and examiners in their effectiveness in assessing membership applications. Responsible for timeliness and quality of membership applications, including assessments of related reports, intelligence, and regulatory responses shared with MAP. Participates in special projects, surveys, committee assignments and technology initiatives impacting MAP. Provides the Vice President with updates, key issues, and briefings on current examination information. Manages the development and mentoring of staff at varying levels of expertise and delivering performance feedback. Collaborates and participates in the development and consistent applications of departmental policies and procedures.
