Attorney I
Richardson, TX GEICO is seeking an experienced Attorney to join their team in Dallas, TX. This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility of both remote and in-office work. The Attorney will be responsible for defending lawsuits against GEICO insureds and representing the company in various legal matters in Texas courts. This is a full-time position, with a competitive salary and benefits package. Job Title: Attorney I Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid) Salary: Competitive Experience: 1 years of insurance defense or personal injury litigation experience or 2 years of litigation experience in a related field Job Requisition ID: R0048951 Responsibilities: - Researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda - Rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department - Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial - Defending all assigned matters through trial, arbitration, or mediation - Maintaining a valid Texas Bar license and meeting all licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) - Traveling as required to attend trials, hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings - Communicating professionally in person, over the phone, and through written correspondence - Documenting files in a clear and concise manner Qualifications: - Juris Doctor degree - Admission to the Texas Bar - 1 years of insurance defense or personal injury litigation experience or 2 years of litigation experience in a related field - Ability to travel as needed - Strong communication and organization skills - Ability to learn and apply technical and procedural information Preferred Qualifications: - Civil litigation experience - Insurance defense-related litigation experience Location Eligibility: This is a hybrid position, requiring 2-3 days in-office work and in-person court hearings.
