You are the perfect candidate for our remote Summer Intern (Legal) position if you are a resourceful team player who can manage ambiguity and adapt to different situations and people. As a Ryder intern, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to current projects and develop essential problem-solving, analysis, and public speaking skills while attending business meetings and participating in projects. In this role, you will be working in the Legal department and will be responsible for researching and tracking policy, sustainability, and industry/association items. You will also be helping to manage ESG requests and questionnaires, as well as peer benchmarking of sustainability reporting and disclosures. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to conduct research and create educational materials for other programs, as needed.

As an intern at Ryder, you will have the chance to work on various projects, including conducting a comprehensive state-by-state regulatory review to support Torque launches, completing desktop audits of Torque processes, and conducting a pricing analysis of environmental vendors. You will also have the opportunity to expand on water stress area analysis and work with Sourcing to develop a strategy for increasing renewable energy purchasing. This is a remote position, but there may be potential for in-person meetings or activities if you are local to Miami HQ. The internship will last for 8 weeks, and the hourly rate for this position is $18.

To be eligible for this internship, you must have completed at least four semesters of college or university curriculum and be currently enrolled toward a degree in Finance or Accounting. Key responsibilities of the Summer Intern (Legal) position include:

- Researching, tracking, and compiling policy, sustainability, and industry/association items
- Compiling policy-related information into a universal policy catalog
- Categorizing legislative, regulatory, and/or related action and monitoring the active status of identified issues
- Managing correspondence (inbox) and general intake and tracking of customer requests
- Helping to manage ESG requests and questionnaires and maintaining records
- Conducting peer benchmarking of sustainability reporting and disclosures
- Mapping out association engagement opportunities, such as conferences and staff contacts
- Assisting in building a database of internal/external contacts for corresponding projects
- Participating in team calls
- Preparing meeting materials, including PowerPoints and other documents
- Attending virtual internal/external briefings and providing recaps

Ad-hoc responsibilities may include:

- Conducting research for other programs, as needed
- Creating educational materials for the field in priority areas, such as oil water separator compliance and waste management
- Coordinating information gathering across teams for requests that come to the Legal department
- Assisting in determining if details are missing for team review and coordinating follow-ups as needed

Possible projects for interns in the Environmental Services area may include:

- Conducting a comprehensive U.S. state-by-state regulatory review to support Torque launches proactively
- Completing desktop audits of Torque processes pending to inform policy and process development
- Completing a pricing analysis of environmental vendors to identify opportunities for cost savings and better customer experience in the field
- Expanding on water stress area analysis and developing a plan for reducing water risk
- Working with Sourcing to develop a strategy for increasing renewable energy purchasing

Requirements for the Summer Intern (Legal) position include:

- Commitment to work remotely for 8 weeks, with potential for in-person meetings/activities if local to Miami HQ
- Resourceful team player who can manage ambiguity and adapt to different situations and people
- Currently enrolled toward a degree in Finance or Accounting, having completed at least four semesters of college or university curriculum
- Knowledge or courses taken in the area of discipline
- Member of school club(s)
- Comfortable with public speaking
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies

If you are located in California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York City, or Washington, salary for this position will be determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, certain degrees or certifications, etc. The hourly rate for this position is $18.
