Corporate Practice Assistant (Legal Assistant/Secretary) - Anchorage, AK

Salary: $57,000 - $95,000 per year (based on market location)

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking a highly organized and efficient Corporate Practice Assistant to provide legal administrative support to attorneys in the Corporate and Energy practice groups. This is a non-exempt position with regular office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime required.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

- Legal Document Preparation and Management: Prepare and manage legal documents such as bylaws, articles of incorporation, asset purchase agreements, and stock certificates. File documents with the Division of Corporation and prepare documents for transaction closings.
- Word Processing: Keyboard correspondence and legal documents from transcription, handwritten drafts, or notes. Proofread, format, edit, and redact documents. Transcribe voice mail messages and attorney dictation.
- Timekeeping and Billing: Enter, proofread, and close timekeepers’ time entries in billing software. Review, proofread, distribute, and track proformas and client invoices. Research and resolve billing problems and questions.
- Client Service: Communicate with clients and outside counsel via phone and email. Coordinate client travel and holiday cards and gifts.
- Teamwork: Provide coverage for practice assistant team during times of need. Assist coworkers and timekeepers with technology or firm procedure questions.
- File and Document Management: Scan, copy, fax, print, and organize documents. Retrieve documents from document management system and hard copy files. Prepare and maintain notebooks.
- Other Administrative Support: Maintain timekeepers’ calendars and monitor docketing deadlines. Schedule meetings and coordinate reservations. Comply with firm policies.

- Have strong organizational, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Possess outstanding interpersonal and client service skills.
- Have clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Be proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.

Technical Knowledge:

- Accurately type 60 wpm.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with law firm software preferred.

Physical/Mental Capabilities:

- Operate office equipment and read and comprehend instructions.
- Type for extended periods of time.
- Learn and effectively use firm style and software applications.
- Accurately proofread documents.
- Carry files for short distances.

Education & Experience:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic understanding of accounting is a plus.
