Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and guidance on IP matters related to BNY Mellon's businesses, products, services, and strategies.
- Advise the Global Marketing and Communications team on a wide range of issues pertaining to marketing and communications strategies and content.
- Advise on intellectual property aspects of licensing activities, M&A, and other strategic alliances.
- Work collaboratively with inventors and innovators to support the strategic growth of BNY Mellon's Patent Program.
- Advise on free and open source license obligations and provide counsel on compliance issues.
- Clearly communicate and provide advice on IP matters to senior business leaders.

Requirements:
- J.D. from a top-tier law school.
- Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 3-7 years of experience as an admitted attorney, with both in-house and law firm experience preferred.
- Prior IP legal experience in the financial services industry or comparable law firm experience preferred.
- Knowledge of software and technology relevant to BNY Mellon's business.
- Experience with copyright law and risk management.
- Familiarity with free and open source software.
- Basic understanding of patents and the patent process.
- Strong drafting and negotiating skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
