Longview, TX Summary: Organization: OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL Job Title: Assistant Attorney General I-IV, OAG - Child Support Experience: 1-4 years Salary: $6,458.34 - $7,541.67 per month Location: Longview, Texas Department: Legal Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week State Job Code: 3513 3510, 3511, 3512 Salary Admin Plan: B Grade: 28 22, 24, 26 Number of Openings: 1 Overtime Status: Exempt Posting Date: Mar 5, 2024 Closing Date: Ongoing The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division. This position involves representing the state's interest in judicial and administrative matters, providing legal advice and technical assistance, and developing and delivering training. Responsibilities: - Represent the State of Texas in legal proceedings related to child support and medical support - Provide legal advice, consultation, and technical assistance to the Child Support Program - Develop and deliver training - Maintain relevant knowledge and attend work regularly in compliance with schedule - Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive information - Comply with agency policies and procedures, including ethics and integrity Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school - Licensed attorney in the State of Texas - Familiarity with Family Law and the Texas Family Code - Strong legal writing, mediation, and negotiation skills - Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Sound judgment and decision-making abilities - Ability to receive and respond positively to feedback - Team player with a commitment to excellent customer service - Ability to work in-person at assigned OAG location and travel as needed Preferred Qualifications: - 2 years of experience in handling Family Law cases - Jury trial experience - Experience in a high-volume legal practice - Proficiency in Spanish To apply for this position, please submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit.
