Job Description

Take on a role that works cross-functionally in a collaborative environment with senior executives and program leads, as you drive KM library content curation strategy.

As the Legal Knowledge Management Librarian in our Legal Operations team, you will work closely with the JPMC Knowledge Team on all aspects of practice group-focused knowledge management projects, including, but not limited to, collecting and organizing valuable know-how/work product across legal lines of businesses, managing practice group-focused collecting, tracking and reporting on key data about legal matters, and advancing other practice group-specific KM efforts and projects as needed. Reporting to the Head of Knowledge Management, the Legal Knowledge Management Librarian will engage in self-directed work in close collaboration with KM Champions across the legal department and other members of the larger Knowledge Management Steering Committee. This position will routinely engage with Line of Business Practice Group attorneys and business professionals. As the Legal KM Librarian, you will work closely with KM Program and Products teams to develop and execute a content curation strategy.

Job responsibilities

Collaborating with members of the KM Steering Committee, KM Product and Program Team to assess current and KM priorities and areas of focus for the practice. The Legal KM Librarian will work with the practice group leadership and the KM Product and Program Team to refine the group's formal KM strategy and to identify priority projects for each fiscal year.
Overseeing practice group-specific processes for collecting key deal points at different stages of matters, which may include developing deal forms, holding calls with attorneys to gather matter data, inputting data into the firm’s matter experience system, and tracking/reporting on attorney engagement.
Acting as a resource and escalation point for KM systems and related processes and working with members of the KM team to evaluate new technologies and processes.
Working with practice groups to identify key matter attributes that should be tracked to support the group's client and business priorities.
Helping to expand and maintain the group's knowledge library, including forms, models, precedent documents, legal memos, and other materials.
Assisting with the drafting, maintenance, and updating of model forms, templates, and checklists to ensure that they reflect the most up-to date changes in applicable laws, market standards, regulations, and best practices.
Monitoring and updating attorneys in the group about important legal and industry developments and trends.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or J.D. from an ABA accredited law school acceptable. Minimum 5 years of experience working in a corporate or large law firm environment
Self-starter with strong ability to work independently and maintain accuracy and attention to detail across multiple projects and completing deadlines.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of both library science, information systems, and emerging technologies, as well as trends in large organizations and their impact on Knowledge Management programs including the application of artificial intelligence to Knowledge Management systems.
Ability to develop full understanding of the suite of the JPMC Knowledge Management technology stack.
Familiarity with industry standard Knowledge Management tools.
Conversant with technology terms.
Ability to translate technology terminology to executive leadership.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience with legal knowledge management concepts and technologies.
Financial services industry experience and experience with global teams.
