Reputed Firm Seeking Experienced Assistant General Counsel in Lubbock, Texas

Position Overview:

- The reputed firm is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel to perform legal work involving research and case briefing in assigned areas.
- The firm serves as legal counsel for the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** and its five component institutions, advising on all legal matters and working directly with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.
- The Assistant General Counsel will work with external agencies, handle lawsuits, provide legal advice, and review policies and procedures.
- The salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $105,000, depending on the qualifications of the selected individual.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas in defending lawsuits filed against the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** and its component institutions.
- Draft, review, and advise on contracts for the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** and its components.
- Respond to complaints of discrimination filed with external agencies.
- Provide legal advice on various issues related to higher education and regulatory matters.
- Advise officials, faculty, and staff of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** and its components.
- Review and interpret laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Handle Texas Public Information Act requests.
- Manage medical malpractice and professional liability matters.
- Review and revise campus-wide policies and procedures.
- Work with the Vice Chancellor and General Counsel on issues impacting the Board of Regents.
- Attend and advise various TTU System component committees.
- Engage in actions and communications consistent with the firm's values and culture.

Qualifications:

- JD degree required.
- Ability to qualify for admission to practice before the Texas Bar within six months if not presently admitted.
- Three years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably with an emphasis in higher education.

Additional Information:

- This is a full-time position with a monthly pay basis.
- Salary will be $100,000 to $105,000, commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
- The work schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- This is not a research laboratory position.
