Are you a passionate and dedicated attorney looking to use your skills to make a positive impact in the lives of low-income immigrants? Join our team as a Community Justice Attorney in the Immigrant Rights Program at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.

As a Community Justice Attorney, you will be based out of our office in Red Bank, New Jersey and provide legal representation to immigrants facing removal proceedings primarily before the Newark and Elizabeth Immigration Courts. This is a full-time position with a specific term through December 2024.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide individual consultations to low-income immigrants to determine eligibility for immigration status
• Represent clients before various agencies such as USCIS, Immigration Courts, and Federal Courts
• Manage caseload and maintain client files
• Translate documents and secure interpretation assistance as necessary
• Collaborate with legal assistants and social workers to meet clients' needs
• Conduct educational presentations for immigrant communities
• Educate service organizations, government agencies, schools, and other groups on immigration law and policy
• Support legal services clients in organizing, advocacy, and leadership development efforts
• Participate in AFSC staff meetings and case reviews
• Assist in documenting project experiences and submitting reports to funding sources
• Attend immigration law training sessions and conferences

Qualifications:

• Admission to a state bar required
• 1-2 years of experience with immigration law and procedures preferred
• Understanding of and willingness to apply principles behind movement lawyering
• Demonstrated cultural competency
• Fluency in written and oral English and Spanish
• Experience and comfort with public speaking
• Self-motivation and ability to prioritize workload
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills
• Familiarity with software applications in a Windows environment
• Driver's license and access to a car preferred
• Commitment to Quaker values and testimonies
• Understanding of and compatibility with AFSC's principles and philosophy
• Understanding of and commitment to diversity and inclusion

Compensation:

• Salary range of $65,000 - $76,356
