Armstrong Teasdale is looking for a Profitability Analyst to join their team. The Profitability Analyst will be responsible for the analysis of business segments, revenue forecasting, development of pricing proposals and responding to ad-hoc financial inquiries. Reporting directly to the Firm’s pricing director, the Profitability Analyst will interact with other key stakeholders as well.

• Analyze the performance of business segments, including practice areas, offices and working groups.
• Assist with the development, implementation and reporting of key performance metrics, to be used by Firm management.
• Prepare reporting for month-end close as well as annual timekeeper review and revenue forecasting.
• Analyze historical and current data to support the development of strategic pricing proposals.
• Maintain the accuracy of timekeeper and matter rates; Seek continuous improvement of data integrity to help drive effective decision making.
• Produce concise and actionable reports in response to ad-hoc data requests.
• Identify opportunities and make recommendations for process improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

H2: Job Requirements
Competencies:

• Knowledge of statistical, financial, and accounting principles.
• Intermediate Excel skills is required (including pivot tables, v-lookups). Advanced Excel skills (macros) are preferred.
• Experience writing SQL queries is preferred.
• Self-motivation, ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once.
• Candidate must be able to employ logical and analytical skills and be able to summarize and communicate effectively.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Required Licenses and/or Certifications: None

Required Experience: 4 years of experience working in a professional services environment is required

Preferred Experience: Law Firm experience is preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Physical Activity: The employee will be required to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer

The ideal candidate for this position should have knowledge of statistical, financial, and accounting principles, intermediate Excel skills, and experience writing SQL queries. They should have self-motivation, the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once, and be able to employ logical and analytical skills and be able to summarize and communicate effectively. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics is required for this position, as well as 4 years of experience working in a professional services environment. Law Firm experience is preferred.
