San Rafael, CA

Who We Are From research and discovery to post-market clinical development, our WWRD engine involves all bench and clinical research and the associated groups that support those endeavors. Our teams work on developing first-in-class and best-in-class therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with genetic diseases. SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated, innovative and team-oriented individual to join the gene editing research group. The successful candidate will utilize the latest technologies to advance our therapeutic research and discovery efforts. Tasks will include the use of gene editing and NGS technologies to assess genomic functions. The position requires adaptability, creativity, and a capacity for constant innovation in pursuit of company goals. Responsibilities Utilize high throughput molecular biology techniques to construct DNA libraries. Purify DNA libraries, QC using capillary electrophoresis (Fragment analyzer, Bioanalyzer), fluorescence-based assays (Qubit), and sequencing (Sanger, Illumina PacBio). Mammalian tissue culture and DNA/RNA isolation. Analysis of gene expression and function by qPCR, ddPCR, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq. Analysis of gDNA by Nextera XT library preparation and next generation sequencing. Develop phenotypic and functional screening assays in collaboration with cross-functional teams by generating cell lines, creating plasmid or lentiviral libraries, and utilizing Cas9-RNP based transfections to study genetic variants in the context of disease biology. Utilize data management software such as Excel, Prism, Geneious/SnapGene and computational analysis of genomic data using custom Python scripts. Develop and optimize protocols for next generation sequencing, including the use of liquid handling robots and automation to facilitate library preparation. Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team to apply genomic technologies to further target and drug discovery efforts. ExperienceExperience with NGS library generation and CRISPR based screening, including the use of liquid handling robotics (Hamilton, Biomek) for mammalian cell culture and downstream library preparation for NGS is preferred. Prior experience with RT-qPCR and other basic molecular biology and biochemical techniques. Experience with Illumina or PacBio library preparation for next generation sequencing. A strong working knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as PCR, electrophoresis, qRT-PCR, ELISA, DNA and protein purification as well as molecular cloning is preferred. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular/Cell Biology, Genomics, Bioengineering, or related discipline with 8 years (w/Bachelor's) or 6 years (w/Master's) of research experience in either an academic or industry lab.
