Associate Director, Sales and Operations Planning

These engineers, technicians, scientists, Supply Chain professionals and support staff build and maintain BioMarin\u2019s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients. \u00A0\u00A0ROLE \u00A0The Associate Director - Sales & Operations Planning is responsible for the management, execution and continuous improvement of the global S&OP process, including the approval of a feasible Production and Financial plan. This role will lead development of organizational capability, processes, and systems for end to end planning (e.g. demand, supply and inventory planning) while integrating these key processes with business strategy and financials. This leader will manage the transformation from S&OP to IBP (Integrated Business Planning) balancing service, cost and cash.In addition, this role oversees the Demand Planning function and S&OP Scenario Planning in a multi-site production environment and plays a key role in interfacing with BioMarin\u2019s Commercial team for Forecasting and Demand Management. The purpose of this role is to improve the processes, systems, tools and capabilities within the organization pertaining to Sales and Operations Planning, Demand Planning & Scenario Planning. \u00A0The role is also accountable for the execution of all aspects of S&OP (later IBP) covering both in-house manufacturing and 3rd party finished goods buying. The role is responsible for deciding the process of what to build and when to build in accordance with the demand requirements.\u00A0KEY INTERFACES \u00A0Finance Operations, Commercial Operations, Product Supply Chain Owner (PSCO), Supply Operational & Network Strategy, Clinical Supply Planning, Manufacturing Operations, Quality Operations, Global\u00A0External Operations (GEO) and Global Planning. \u00A0\u00A0KEY RESPONSIBILITIES \u00A0 Responsible for setting the direction and strategy for S&OP at BioMarin, leading the implementation of processes, systems and organizational development to build a robust Integrated Business Planning program to support both Commercial and Clinical products. Facilitate demand and supply balancing across BioMarin Commercial and Operations network to enable effective capacity planning in the plant network. Lead the development, roll-up and communication of the global demand plan, supply plan and inventory management activities by balancing interests of customer and functional teams. Accountable for coaching key stakeholders on the principles of S&OP and IBP. Responsible for providing un-biased recommendations in regard to long term capacity and inventory planning scenarios and working with the finance function in assessing and understanding the financial trade-offs for decision making. Work with supply planning in preparation of Supply Review, manage S&OP meeting and prepare information for eS&OP. This includes pre-meeting preparation, executive content, required participants, escalation management, risk mitigation, process resolution, and management of expected outcomes. \u00A0 Prepare, present, and analyze outlook projections including annual financial budget review and LRP and act as the go to person for Commercial and Operations organizations. Accountable for communication of KPI performance and executive reporting within S&OP and eS&OP including mitigations and proactive supply risk management. Drive leadership planning awareness, training and change management. Accountable for ensuring and creating a lean culture in planning by driving process excellence and standardization. Work with key stakeholders in Global Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing Operations (Internal & External) to support BioMarin\u2019s Strategic and Operational objectives. \u00A0 Coordinate with key stakeholders ad hoc modeling of various Planning scenarios as necessary with quick turn-around, high accuracy, well vetted and documented assumptions. Manage Commercial and Clinical Demand Planning processes ensuring that stakeholders have timely visibility to historical, projected, and potential (upside/downside) forecast information and E&O risks. \u00A0 Partner with Commercial Operations to ensure availability of an aligned Demand Plan for downstream Supply Chain Planning activities. \u00A0 Identify, track, and maintain relevant, effective performance metrics related to Supply Chain and S&OP effectiveness and track progress of improvement initiatives. \u00A0 Ensure the continuous development and optimization of the global Sales & Operations Planning processes for Demand, Supply, S&OP and eS&OP driving the process towards IBP (Integrated Business Planning). Develop technology solutions that can support current and future S&OP needs, including scenario planning capabilities. \u00A0 Work with key stakeholders to identify gaps and process improvements based on the company\u2019s needs and provide process improvement training as required. Develop skill sets and leadership ability of the Demand Planning Team through mentoring, technical and business training, and challenging assignments that build confidence and demonstrate the team\u2019s ability to make significant contributions to Technical Operations and BioMarin. \u00A0\u00A0\u00A0MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS \u00A0 BS/B.Sc., preferably in Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Engineering or Business Administration. Minimum 10 years\u2019 practical leadership experience of Sales & Operation Planning, Demand Management, Supply Planning, Inventory Management and Data Analytics. Minimum 10 years\u2019 global planning experience preferably in biopharma, in a complex, virtual, and ideally Commercial/Clinical Supply Chain Environment. \u00A0 Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. \u00A0 Demonstrated leadership experience and previous people management Demonstrated track record in driving operational performance via strong leadership and change management skills particularly in the area of S&OP and IBP. Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams with minimal supervision. \u00A0 Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple projects. \u00A0 Subject-matter expertise in ERP systems, preferably Oracle and/or SAP. \u00A0 Ability to understand and escalate the impact of unique issues from an E2E and functional perspective including Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing, Finance, Operations to assess best options \u00A0 Business process thinker that drives for continuous improvement of business process to achieve product strategies. \u00A0 Demonstrated, deep understanding of end-to-end global supply chain processes. \u00A0 Excellent communications skills with the ability to work in a global, matrix organization. \u00A0 Strong analytical, organization, decision making, written and verbal communication and presentation skills to operational as executive levels.
