Designer - Performance Sneakers
New York City, NY Overview: This Footwear Designer's primary role will be to envision, create, and develop premium, recognizable, and brand relevant products at the intersection of technical innovation and style, informed by culture, wellness, sport, art, and music. This candidate will be familiar with our brand aesthetic and be able to commercialize product geared towards the Madewell customer. RESPONSIBILITIES: *Hand sketching, Illustrator CADs, preparing technical specs, correcting protos, trend research and strong presentation skills. *Collaborate with Design team to ensure holistic storytelling. *Knowledge of functional and technical performance products, technical processes and ability to address lasts, patterns, blueprints and molds. Must have a great attention to detail . *Over time this role will help build a material and components library for this category . *Ability to operate in a fast paced, ever changing work environment. Must be able to pivot and problem solve with a solution-oriented mindset. *Partner with Product Merchandising in the execution of line plans, final product solutions and alignment on commercialization of the line and overall business goals. *Expert knowledge in design trends, production techniques, and new technology . Style and function are key attributes. *Deliver on-time product solutions in conjunction with the product calendar and business needs ensuring that all deadlines, line plans and deliverables are met *Extremely Passionate about sustainability! Knowledge of circular solution and new products on the markets that help us reach our quarterly sustainability goals and more. *Must be an ambitious, self-starter who can own the category from start to finish and who is passionate about the trajectory of the Madewell brand.
