Manager - Technical Design for Women's Woven & Denim Bottoms
Long Island City, NY Overview: Overview: To independently oversee the team that is responsible for executing Design's vision of the Denim and Woven's Bottoms categories, as well as Denim Outerwear and Jumpsuits. RESPONSIBILITIES: Management Skills *Oversee team of direct reports. *Manage cross-functional team communications. *Schedule and coordinate fittings with Agency and Internal Teams. *Facilitate vendor relationships and communication. Technical Skills *Develop and edit tech packs, documenting fit comments, specs and bill of materials. *Expertise in multiple product classifications specific to denim and wovens product (pants, shorts, skirts, jumpsuits, jackets and outerwear). *Knowledge of Missy, Plus, Petite, Tall and Maternity. *Manage flow of information related to fit process, such as tracking samples, update tech log, sending fit list, and communicating with factory counterparts. *Fit and correct garments in fittings, and then translate those corrections to patterns and/or comments. *Organize and maintain data history (samples and patterns). Interpersonal Skills *Ensure that an accurate garment is developed that meets Design's aesthetic. *Communicate verbal and written content accurately and in a timely manner with others (including vendors, merchants, production and design) *Work with field/vendor representatives and directors to resolve issues *Conduct fit sessions independently and manage process. QUALIFICATIONS: *Associate or Bachelor Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design. *10 years experience in Technical Design. *Experience managing a team of 4 . *Excellent communication, organizational, attention to detail and follow-up skills. *Knowledge of garment construction methods. *Knowledge of structural and decorative trims. *Adaptive to a multi-tasked environment. *Proficient in PC applications including MS Word, Excel and Outlook Express. *Proficient in Adobe Illustrator. *Pattern Drafting and Draping skills. *Proficient in PLM/Gerber/Lectra Program. *Ability to evaluate fit problems on live models. *Ability to evaluate fit models. *Understanding of Grade Rules. Additional Category Specific Skills *Knowledge of factory machinery specific to production area (domestic and international). *Knowledge of fabrics, construction and wash for Denim and Woven's Product.
