**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***’s (INL) Condensed Matter and Materials Physics group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as an Imaging and Spectroscopy Scientist! Our team works an on-site 9x80 schedule located at our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
Responsibilities Include:
Lead a small team performing the R&D of both laboratory-based and field imaging and spectroscopy systems. This includes (1) X-ray digital radiography and computed tomography systems and (2) laser-based spectroscopy systems (Raman, terahertz [THz], infrared [IR], etc.) capable of operating challenging environments.
Establish working relationships with customers, technical representatives, and field operations personnel focused on the detection and verification of chemical agents in munitions.
Take a leadership role in developing new programs associated with imaging and spectroscopy techniques, further enhancing the capabilities of the department in this area.
Develop existing and new programs in collaboration with materials science and homeland security research personnel. This includes the independent design and execution of a variety of unique laboratory research studies to prove new principles and concepts related to X-ray and laser-based imaging and spectroscopy, as well as other physics-based techniques for detection and analyses of systems and materials.
Guide personnel in the collection and interpretation of laboratory data.
Plan research tasks and assessing and applying a wide range of research techniques to those tasks.
Conduct and documenting work at an appropriate quality level.
Serve as a major or sole contributor to the generation of reports, publications, and proposals and contribute to the generation of additional proposals and concepts submitted for external funding.
Represent the Materials Science & Engineering department and INL with sponsors and peers through programmatic and technical presentations.
Engage in external technical leadership associated with relevant technical conferences or national/international in areas related to main mission.
Provide guidance to departmental business plans and perform the duties of a line management Principal Investigator for assigned work activities.
Serve as a technical resource to other researchers.
Mentor and provide oversight of junior level scientists.
 ','!*!Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in applicable science (Physics, Chemistry) or engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics) or related field plus 3 years relevant experience.
Experience in development and application of imaging and spectroscopy systems.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information

Salary Grade PR0300: 220 ($107,520 - $177,336) / Salary Grade PR0400: 230 ($121,212 - $206,232)

TDP: Testing designated position; It will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of employment.
