Our team works on-site with a 4x10 schedule located at our SMC facility with every Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
Applying principles of mechanical engineering to develop initial concepts, develop novel solutions, and troubleshoot operational problems of mechanical systems relative to force, load, wear, motion, energy, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
Roles and responsibilities include to varying degrees, the following focus areas:

Modify and upgrade mechanical systems associated with SMC production and facility equipment as needed to maintain functionality or improve performance.
Support in selection, specification, and procurement of replacement, modified or new mechanical components to ensure mission sustainability of manufacturing and infrastructure systems.
Track trends, and analyze the performance of mechanical systems associated with SMC production and facility equipment.
Support in trouble-shooting and repair of mechanical systems associated with SMC production and facility equipment.
Specify type, rigor, and periodicity of system/equipment corrective and preventative maintenance.
Assist Facility Area Supervisor (FAS) on LO/TO preparations and in identifying proper isolation points and zero energy checks.
Follow Engineering Job (EJ) process for engineering changes as well as specify tooling used in the production process.
Provide technical input to support procurement activities of capital equipment or other systems for plant modifications with respect mechanical operation, reliability, and performance.
Technical calculations as needed to support operation and modification of assigned SSC's.
Prepare Technical Evaluations or Engineering Calculation Reports (ECAR) using hand calculations or mathematical software (Mathcad, etc.). Including: Author SOW’s, TEV’s, ECARS, SPC’s, etc.; Provide technical solutions to safety or other problems that arise with SSC’s at SMC; Provide technical reviews of drawings, TEV’s, ECARS, SOW’s, SPC’s.
Develop relationships with non-SMC personnel as needed to support work assignments if required technical inputs lie outside of normal expertise or education.

Minimum Requirements:

Baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in mechanical engineering and 1 year of relevant experience.
Relevant experience in a construction, manufacturing, commercial facility maintenance or other mechanical type work desired, either engineering or hands-on.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Requirements:

Troubleshooting and communications skills are required.
The candidate must have a willingness to actively seek input from multiple sources to effectively solve problems.
The role requires working with multiple classification levels and project sensitive materials, experience working with highly secured and sensitive materials is desired.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and understanding of Engineering/SMC/BEA priorities.
Provide technical input to support procurement activities of engineered deliverables or capital equipment for plant modifications.
Technical input (Statements of Work or Specifications) shall be used for placement and management of design/build and construction type contracts.

Job Information

PR0100: Salary Grade 200 ($81, 288 - $134, 100).
PR0200: Salary Grade 210 ($93, 492 - $154, 212).
