**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***’s (INL) Fire Department is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in a career as our Emergency Medical System (EMS) Medical Director. This position will work a casual part-time hybrid schedule.
Serves within the Fire Department as the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director. Responsible for medical oversight by delegating authority for all aspects of patient care to ensure maintenance of accepted standards of EMS medicine practice. This includes credentialing of certified and licensed emergency medical technicians (Basic, Advanced, and Paramedic).
Duties and responsibilities include:

Adhere to IDAPA 16.02.02.
Liaison with BEA Occupational Medicine physicians and regional EMS medical directors.
Provide EMS medical advise and continuing education training recommendations to the INL Fire Department Division Chief for delivery and EMS program improvement.
Review, update, and approve PLN-4261, Medical Supervision Plan.
Participate in the Quality Assessment (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) review of patient care reports provided by the INL FD.
Participate in the Statewide and Regional quality improvement programs.
Review department and regional mass casualty and disaster plans. Provide guidance to the EMS agency regarding its provision of EMS under those plans.
Maintain Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and State of Idaho licenses to allow INL FD to procure and deliver approved controlled substances.
Advise the INL FD with respect to the ordering, stocking and replacement of drugs, and compliance with laws and regulations impacting upon the agency’s acquisition, storage, and use of those drugs.
Conduct an initial assessment (skills verification) of INL FD Paramedics to determine knowledge, skills, and competency to provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care per the medical supervision plan and manage a patient care team.
Biannually (every 2 years) assess each INL FD advance life support (ALS) provider (paramedic and advanced EMT) to determine whether the EMS provider has maintained knowledge, skills, and competency to provide ALS care per the medical supervision plan and manage a patient care team.
Providing ongoing education to EMS providers to include at least three training sessions, one per shift per month, one for each shift.
Review response reports and conduct a monthly run review to provide feedback to responders.
Perform other functions as imposed by federal or state regulation.
The Emergency Medical System Medical Director (EMSMD), shall be involved in disciplinary proceedings of EMS providers when patient care issues are involved.
Review and approve before implementation, new and emerging technologies in ambulance and rescue equipment, supplies, and operations.
Facilitate on-line and off-line medical direction.
Direct (On-Line) Supervision is contemporaneous instructions and directives about a specific patient encounter provided by a physician or designated clinician to licensed EMS personnel who are providing medical care.
Indirect (Off-Line) Supervision is the medical supervision, provided by a physician, to licensed EMS personnel who are providing medical care including EMS system design, education, quality management, patient care guidelines, medical policies, and compliances.
Serve as medical director for the Emergency Medical Dispatch program.

Physician licensed in the State of Idaho to practice medicine (M.D.) or osteopathy (D.O.)
Minimum of 6 years of experience in emergency medicine or trauma.
Emergency patient care experience sufficient to provide sound medical decisions and treatment for accident victims, both industrial and personal in nature. Emergency Medical Management support to the fire department and paramedic program.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DEA license for the fire department.

Salary Grade: PR0500 250 ($160,440 - $272,724)
