Description:
The Department of Music at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** seeks an accomplished choral conductor and pedagogue to serve as the Director of Choral Activities. This person will provide artistic vision, guidance, and administrative leadership for all aspects of the choral program. The Music department desires a candidate who will prioritize ensemble and student recruitment, expand the program, and cultivate an environment where students feel that they belong and can thrive. This is a 12-month, full-time faculty appointment to commence in August 2024. King is a Christian liberal arts institution located in the picturesque foothills of East Tennessee and values free expression and respectful dialogue in a spirit of Christian love and inclusiveness. King maintains a collegial faculty from a cross-section of Christian traditions and students and faculty members often develop deep connections with one another. The integration of faith and learning is central to King’s mission and applicants should be professing Christians who can articulate their faith and its influence on the vocation of teaching the discipline. Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in choral conducting, or master's degree with significant professional accomplishments and experience; A minimum of three years as a teacher at the collegiate level; An established record of excellence as a choral conductor and pedagogue; Appreciation of the value of diversity in all its dimensions across students, colleagues, audiences, and those in the community; The ability to develop sustainable and equitable partnerships and/or collaborations with others within and outside of the university community; Successful recruitment strategies for the choral program

Additional expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Individual performance experience. Teaching experience outside the choral area, Experience with digital media and teaching technologies, Community and K-12 school engagement and outreach.? ? Candidates who provide with their CV (or as an additional upload) a page of links to recent unedited live rehearsal and performance videos, including clips of a rehearsal (20 minutes minimum) and a performance (front view and audience view preferred), as well as optional links to recent research, creative activity, and/or service will be prioritized.
Responsibilities:
Essential duties include the following: Managing all aspects of the program administration, including budget, scholarship awards and oversight, inventory, auditions, and ensemble placement as well as ensemble scheduling; teach in a secondary area of expertise, such as applied voice, choral literature, conducting, music history, and/or other related courses; advise undergraduate students; and recruit talented undergraduate music students.? The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively and enthusiastically in a variety of academic and community settings; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; and academic and professional characteristics consistent with the teaching and service missions of the University and the Department of Music.
