Job Details: SUMMARY: The expectations of this position are under the supervision of a Senior Geneticist, to lead and direct a pedigree breeding program to achieve genetic gains and competitive advantage through alignment with Cobb product and strategic line specifications. The essential functions of this position include: achieve R D genetic progress objectives; develop and maintain standards of genetic integrity for Cobbs breeding program; develop lines to support product development and competitive advantage; develop technologies to support better trait measurement and new traits for product development and competitive advantage; and continually update knowledge on advancements in the field of animal breeding and genetics. This position will require the individual to work at a Pedigree Farm in Rose, Oklahoma. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Doctoral Degree PhD with an emphasis in Animal Breeding and Genetics preferred. Experience: 3 years related experience. Experience includes time in Ph.D. program pursuing a degree in animal breeding or quantitative genetics. Exposure to animal breeding, especially in a commercial role, is highly desirable but not essential. Computer Skills: Knowledge of animal breeding software for estimation of variance components and prediction of breeding values is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is needed. Statistical software proficiency is preferred. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Travel: Will travel up to 10% of the time. Occasional international travel may be required. Biosecurity & Animal Welfare Requirements: Must be able to follow all established Cobb Biosecurity requirements. When visiting bio- secure facilities, showering before entering the facilities is required. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species such as chickens’, ducks, and other non-Cobb birds. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times. Physical Requirements: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms balance stoop talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment. Successful applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Vaccine verification will be required. During the current Pandemic (2020), all Team Members will be required to wear company issued facial coverings. Training will be provided to each Team Member specific to their job and their facility location in addition to signing an acknowledgement form they understand these expectations. It is considered an essential function of each job for a Team Member to wear the company issued facial coverings. If a Team Member indicates they will not wear the mask, they will not be considered for the position in which they are applying or any position that requires the facial covering. If a Team Member has a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing the mask, Cobb will engage in an interactive process to determine whether a reasonable accommodation can be provided that addresses the safety concerns associated with the Pandemic and allow the Team Member to perform the essential functions of the job.
