JOB OVERVIEW
The College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a Collections Specialist, LPN in the Therapeutic Apheresis department. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities.

The Collections Specialist, LPN will perform granulocyte, peripheral blood stem cell collections and other specialized procedures on donors and patients. The LPN will be responsible for accessing the patient/donor peripherally and monitoring these donors and patients throughout the procedure. IV certification for Ohio is required. Traveling between hospitals within the community to perform procedures is required. All requirements for hospital privileging must be met.  This job requires a positive attitude, excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to maintain positive customer-service relationships. Must have a current Ohio LPN license and able to obtain other state licenses as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Perform venipuncture and IVs for peripheral blood stem cell & granulocyte collections and other specialized procedures on donors and patients. *Operate and monitor Apheresis machine and donor/patient throughout the procedure.  *Communicate directly with donors and patients. *Comply with standard operating policies and procedures, FDA regulations, AABB, FACT standards, and other regulatory agencies/research protocols. *Assist with immediate and/or emergency care in case of a donor or patient adverse reaction. *Process collections (i.e., verifying collections, packing units for transport, transporting collected products). *Assist and perform quality control functions, maintain, and calibrate equipment. *Assist in set up and dismantling of blood collections equipment and materials at all operations. *Clean and maintain equipment. (e.g., working tables, blood tubing sealers, workstations, etc.). *Serve as trainer and/or mentor. *Travel between hospitals to perform procedures.   *Meet requirements for all hospital privileges. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Vocational or technical training or degree. *Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
REQUIRED TRAININGS/CERTIFICATIONS
LPN license and IV certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
*Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
 SHIFT: First    STARTING PAY RATE: $23.03 per hour    POST PROBATIONARY RATE: $24.18 per hour
