JOB OVERVIEW
As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

The Department of Emergency Medicine (EM) at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***, College of Medicine is seeking a Director of the Division of Research. The individual in this role will serve as a faculty member within the department and assist in advancing the research mission and research careers of the members of the department. The individual will report to the Department Chair and may ultimately be considered for the role as the Vice Chair for Research.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Mentor and support the research endeavors undertaken by members of the department:

*Work with research faculty and the chair to develop an overall research strategy. *Mentor EM research faculty, fellows and residents on project design and implementation. *Provide biostatistical support for projects led by EM faculty, fellows and residents. *Provide guidance and assistance with grant writing by members of the department. *Collaborate with other departments/institutions to further the research mission.

Manage the Division of Research within the Department of Emergency Medicine:

*Ensure the proper staffing of the division to meet strategic goals and project needs. *Serve as the direct supervisor for all staff members of the division. *Oversee the development and implementation of programs, studies, or other functions. *Mentor division staff members along their individual career paths in research.

Additional Duties

*Work with the research finance manager to ensure budget development. *Collaborate with local and central IRBs. *Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, both internal and external.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
*PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, or similar. *Eligibility to begin at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
*Experience in clinical research methodology. *Excellent interpersonal skills. *Demonstrated skill in Human Resource Management. *Proven history of research grant support.
