JOB OVERVIEW
The Division of Cardiovascular Health and Diseases is recruiting a full time Research Assistant. This position will work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) on sponsored research projects performing standard and complex laboratory procedures in the field of vascular biology with specialization in mouse models of atherosclerosis and abdominal aortic aneurysm. Maintain accurate and timely record of test results; apply standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results; operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment; maintain supply inventory; collect data; organize and centralize files and records; and prepare solutions, reagents, media or stains for prescribed tests. Must have mouse colony management experience.  Participates in meetings with the PI. Successful candidate will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently; be technically proficient and accurate; effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations; initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures; and possess attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Perform experiments and records data according to research protocols. *Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data. May perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. *May assist in animal colony management and animal husbandry. *Apply research principals for less complex assignments. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
*Bachelor's Degree. *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
