JOB OVERVIEW
Hoxworth Blood Center is an independent community blood center, dedicated to the promotion of research and education in transfusion medicine and cell therapies.  

Hoxworth Blood Center has an opportunity in the Donor Services department for an energetic, goal-oriented person to ensure that the staffing requirements are in place. The Staffing Scheduler must be an excellent communicator, possess critical thinking skills and enjoy problem solving.  The selected candidate will create and distribute staff schedules; be responsible for assigning, reassigning and replacing personnel when needed. The Staffing Scheduler is expected to apply high volume staffing experience and judgment to operate independently and quickly learn the operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Develop, maintain and distribute staff schedules based upon scheduling standards and contract language. *Assign, reassign and replace personnel as needed due to absenteeism, illness and projected donor draw. *Prepare and distribute daily schedule. *Carry on-call pager for staffing issues during non-work hours. *Notify staff of all schedule changes. *Prepare and maintain staffing reports and employee data as requested. *Meet deadlines for distribution of schedule and other pertinent information. *Coordinate and monitor vacation scheduling to maintain adequate staffing. *Alert management of possible scheduling difficulties or inability to meet staffing needs. *Review and revise time cards before final review and signature. *Communicate in a professional and effective manner. *Recognize and respond to other professional responsibilities. *Perform related duties based on departmental need.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
High school/GED diploma

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Six months of related experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
