JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for establishing and supervising telecommunications infrastructure installation projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Serve as project manager, as assigned for projects where the primary service is Telecommunications Infrastructure. *Establish and maintain the IT@UC Standards Document.  *Assist with quality assurance supervision of telecommunication infrastructure installation phases of renovation and new construction projects. *Design and provide consultation to create a scope of work and bill of material list for telecommunications structured cabling installation, removal and/or modifications for projects of various sizes. *Facilitate the procurement of approved external contractors to perform installation activities of telecommunications systems. *Directly supervise approved external contractors on installation activities of telecommunications systems.  *Document up-to-date records for cable detail, communications equipment and infrastructure.  *Participate in system enhancement and equipment evaluation. *Schedule and/or coordinate telecommunications services outages (e.g. repairs, installations, removal of equipment, preventative maintenance, etc.).  *Maintain in-depth knowledge of national, state and local structured cabling standards & codes, horizontal and backbone distribution systems, fiber optics, twisted-pair copper, coaxial copper, connecting hardware, entrance facilities and telecommunication rooms. *Will travel throughout the university's campuses and to other remote facilities as necessary. *Perform related duties based on departmental need.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED

REQUIRED TRAININGS/CERTIFICATIONS
*Valid Driver's License *BICSI Installer II Certification *Six (6) years of work experience in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing telecommunications infrastructure projects can be used in lieu of the certification requirement.
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
*Four (4) years of work experience in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing telecommunications infrastructure projects if BICSI Installer II certified *Six (6) years of work experience in planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing telecommunications infrastructure projects if not BICSI Installer II certified.
