JOB OVERVIEW

In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day.

A full time Post Doc Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. David Newburg in the Department of Environmental & Public Health Sciences at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***, College of Medicine.  This postdoctoral position will utilize glycobiology / mass spectrometry and work in a state-of-the-art lab using a new Agilent QQQ for LC-MS analysis of bioactive carbohydrates. The lab has stable 5 years of funding for research on oligosaccharides that influence infection by SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and major respiratory pathogens of children. Research will involve mucosal immunology, pro-inflammatory signaling, and the respiratory and intestinal microbiota. The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Conduct research experiments in glycobiology / mass spectrometry within mucosal immunology, pro-inflammatory signaling, and the respiratory and intestinal microbiota. *Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote mucosal immunology, pro-inflammatory signaling research. *Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results. *Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing. *Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise. *Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed. *May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff. *Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities. *Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D., required.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
